A Small Move in the Art Room

My small move in the classroom is allowing the students to become more independent and have them learn things they want to learn. I want them to make things they want to make. I will be there to guide them and support them. I also want to be there to teach them different artist and material. This will allow students to learn things they want to learn and stay engaged. I have started with my 4th grade giving guided direction but allowing them more freedom to create what they want. They were a little shocked that we were not doing the typical slide show, explanation of what we will do, then directions on how to make it. I gave them the material and the concept and they went with it! They were excited with a small amount of confusion with their freedom. 🙂
